I live in the Washington, DC area, and I want to start working with a New York agent. Should I use a New York answering service? I have been told that agents don't like leaving messages for auditions and go-sees. If the actor does not answer the phone, will the agent simply go on to the next actor that can be reached? Is that true?

Next Month's Column:

Do you recommend lithograph prints for composites and headshots? Is it worth spending the extra money for prints on photographic paper, or are lithographs not noticeably different?

I have a very beautiful two year old daughter. What is the best way to get her noticed by advertising agents?

Dear Myra:

There are a few things that you can do . Have some nice photos taken of your daughter. At the age of two, you do not have to have them professionally taken. Her look is going to change very quickly from month to month, so good clear, in-focus photos will be fine.

Take different expressions, and show her face and entire body in different shots.

In my book I have entire section devoted to marketing yourself. Let me give you one piece of advice.

Call a few large libraries and see if they have the reference book called the Agency Red Book. It is made up of two different books. One is called the Standard Directory of Advertisers, and the other is the Directory of Advertising Agencies. These books will be incredibly helpful to you in finding great advertising agencies.
