ASK AARON - June 2001 Answer

From Nicole, TN

I am 27 years old but look 19. When I meet agents, should I give my real age?

Dear Nicole:

There is no need to lie about your age. Actually, letting agents know that you are over 21 is in your best interest. This will allow you to do television and modeling ads that you would not be able to do at 19. If you are a minor, you would not be able to do ads for lottery, cigarette or alcohol related ads.

The other major advantage is that studios would not have do deal with the child labor laws, or have you tutored on set. You could work as many hours as needed. Minors are only allowed to work a certain number of hours a day.

Your photos will dictate how you will be booked for jobs. There is no need to lie about your age.
