ASK AARON - August 2003 Answer

From Deanne, PA

What does TFP mean when you are talking to a photographer?

Dear Deanne:

TFP means trade for print. Basically, that means you have an arrangement where the photographer does not charge you for his/her services, and you don’t charge the photographer your modeling fees. This can be a good way to get photos taken free. If you are asked to sign a model release form, make sure you know how to make the proper changes before signing. You can read about model release forms on page 74 in my book.
