ASK AARON - July 2004 Answer

“I would like to say at this time that your seminar was very valuable to me and my daughter. You gave us so much information that I feel very prepared for entering this industry. I would also highly recommend your book. It has been a great reference tool for us.

I really appreciated how relaxed you made everyone, and how you made it so easy to ask any and all questions. I especially liked how you took a great amount of time to make sure each question was answered, and that you never tried to rush things along. I hope you continued success and hope to benefit from your talent and sharing of your knowledge.”

From Robyn, GA

Several months ago I had headshots done. My musical theatre teacher told me that I should demand all the proofs and negatives from the photographer because I paid for them. The photographer says that he owns the negatives and that I should contact him if I ever need additional prints produced. Who is correct?

Dear Robyn:

The photographer owns the rights to the photos. This is true, even though you paid for them. That is how the legal system works. You can always ask for the negatives, but the photographer has the right to say no.

If you ever get a chance to read my book, you will learn more about this, and even learn how to get photos taken free.

You can read two free chapters of the book on my site.
