ASK AARON - August 2005 Answer

“My daughter and I attended your workshop in Florida this weekend. I just want to take the time to let you know that your information was informative, interesting, and it was entertaining. I appreciated the relaxing format and the way you allowed the audience to interact with such ease. I would especially like to thank you for your closing comments and advice. I think too often we the parents as well as the kids aspiring to be models, actors or actresses can get carried away with it all. Our kids may put too much pressure on the themselves as do some of the parents.

Thanks for reminding us all to enjoy the experiences and journey, and letting it be okay to pursue other interests if our children find this industry is not in their best interests. It is so important that we all stay grounded. So thank you again for your perfect words of wisdom and I look forward to reading the information in your book and newsletters.”

From Mika, TN

I am 32 years old, but have been studying acting for four years. At this point, I don't have anything to place on my resume. I don't want to lie on the resume - any suggestions?

Dear Mika:

I really like the fact that you are not willing to lie on a resume. Sometimes, having very little on a resume (or nothing) can be a positive thing. Agents and casting directors are always wanting to be able to say that they discovered someone. Someone with no experience! Miki, there might be things to list on your resume that you have not thought about.

You said that you have studied acting for the past four years. List the name of the school – in the education section of the resume. If you have done any plays, even if they were years ago, list them. If you have any special skills: dialects, martial arts, musician, athlete etc… they should be added to the resume. If you get a chance to read my book, “How to Become a Successful Commercial Model,” you will learn exactly how to create a resume.
