"ASK AARON" - March 2007 Answer

“Aaron, thank you for the Boot Camp day. I thought that the commercial information that you presented was extremely useful. I had not considered commercial work before the class and now will definitely explore the opportunities.

From Jeremy, IA

I was just wondering if I have an audition for a movie that is a comedy should I do a comedic monologue for a part or will any monologue do?

Dear Jeremy:

That is a great question. For most film auditions, you will be given the “sides” to read. The sides are the short portion of the script that will contain your lines. If you are being asked to do a monologue as well, first find out what type of role you will be reading. If it is a comedic role, then I would suggest reading a comedic monologue. If not, then just read a monologue that would best show the type of character you are auditioning for.
