Last Month's Column:

I have read a lot about what models must do in order to work in the industry, but what I don't see are helpful tips on being a good model. Such as, what do photographers expect of a model or how to work in front of a camera. Are there any books that will teach me what I need to do when on a set?

Next Month's Column:

I am a subscriber of your newsletter and I am seriously considering moving to Los Angeles to break into the commercials/film industry (I am a writer/aspiring commercial actress). However, I am unique in that I am over 30 years old, but I look very, very young and I would like to work in commercials. No agent will not know old I am because they will not be able to tell, but I like being honest about my age. What is the situation like for someone over 30 to break into commercials? I know Hollywood is very discriminating when it comes to age. I would appreciate any advice you can give.

I will be attending an interview with a modeling agency, and I am unsure of what to wear and what make-up should be applied. What are your thoughts?

Dear Cynthia:

I would suggest wearing almost no makeup at all. They want to see what you really look like. I would wear clothing that clearly puts you into a category that you would realistically be cast in. I would also allow the agents to see your body type. In other words, don’t wear big baggy clothing. Make sure things are form fitting.
