"Ask Aaron" - June 2008 Answer

“Thanks, Aaron! I really was impressed with the professional quality of your boot camp. It was great for me, a true beginner; but it was also informative and met the needs of the more experienced attendees. Everyone seemed to enjoy the whole experience. I know I sure did!

What was the best part? That's easy! You might think it was the information so freely shared, and that ranks right up there. But even more important to me was the enthusiasm the presenters had that encouraged all of us. Wow! Armed with the tools you provided and the spirit you instilled in all of us...look out...here we come...Aaron's Army of Success.”

My question is regarding thank you notes after an audition, or a job that is booked. At what point in the process would you send thank you notes, and who would you suggest sending them to? What would you suggest I say in the message? Thanks!

Dear Gabi:

Those are great questions. I send notes to most of the people involved with the project after the audition or when the project has been completed. It could be sent to the agent, director, photographer, art/creative directors and producer.

The note should be short and too the point. Just thank them for giving you the opportunity to audition for the project (for the agent), and let the others know how much you enjoyed the session and that you hope to get a chance to work with them again in the near future. I would even send a note after an audition or go-see to the agent—even if you don’t get the job.
