Last Month's Column:

I know that modeling agencies can't guarantee work for models. So, would it be inappropriate for me to ask an agent, to partially pay for my photos and comp card if I don't get work?

Next Month's Column:

I've recently completed a basic acting class and we had to play memory games and exercises. I was not good with the memory exercises. At the end of the term we had to memorize lines. I find that I get really nervous and can't remember the most basic lines. My brain goes completely blank and the harder I try to remember my lines, the more I forget my lines. I am concerned this will be a problem for me at auditions and jobs. Any recommendations?

Dear Alan Richards:

Actually there is work for you as a commercial model. When you look in any non-fashion magazine you will see people of all ages in the ads. There will not be as many opportunities for you as someone in their 30’s, but there is definitely work for you. The trick is creating the right photos. You want the pictures to look like real ads, and show a variety of expressions and emotions. You can learn exactly how to get these photos and even have them take free by reading my book, How to Become a Successful Commercial Model.
